U.S. Marines and Sailors commence cargo transfer during a replenishment at sea aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), Mediterranean Sea, Aug. 4, 2023. In order to carry out any mission effectively, fleet units must be capable of remaining at sea for prolonged periods time and remain fully ready to carry out any assigned tasks. The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) is embarked with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, continues to remain ready, relevant and capable across the Marine Air-Ground Task Force while on a scheduled deployment as the Tri-Geographic Combatant Command Crisis Force Immediate Response Force within the Fifth and Sixth Fleet’s area of responsibility.
