DVIDS – News – JBER welcomes robotics automation improvement roadshow
JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska — Military and civilian Airmen at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska took part in the Air Force’s Robotics Process Automation Roadshow Jan. 20 through 25, 2025.
This innovative four-day training provided a rudimentary understanding of the UiPath software environment and robotics process automation for everyday administrative tasks.
The software is user friendly, easily learned and can be put into action in any work center. A UiPath bot can execute commands, reply to messages, perform routine tasks, search for information on the internet, collect data and sort the statistics for metrics and graphs.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the DAFBOT RPA Roadshow here on JBER,” said Jordan Taieno, the assistant logistics manager for the 733rd Force Support Squadron. “I have an interest in process improvement, automation and coding, so the concept of the training immediately caught my attention.”
This U.S. Air Force sanctioned DAFBOT UiPath approved software allows Airmen and Department of Defense employees to help automate daily workplace activities. Manpower hours typically spent on time-consuming administrative tasks can now be spent doing more critical, time-sensitive tasks.
The event’s primary goal was to cultivate base-level grass roots “citizen developers” who can implement Department of the Air Force Bot Operations Team software at the shop level.
“With my training through the DAFBot RPA Roadshow and guidance from the instructors, I was able to create an automation that pulls the data from our inventory and transposes it directly on to a disposal form,” said Taieno. “This process that can take three to five minutes for a single line item can now be completed in less than five seconds.”
With over 40 participants on JBER from across the installation, the class equipped Airmen to seamlessly automate everyday tasks. Typically the design and implementation of automation into administrative tasks took around half an hour, but with the help of these pre-programmed “bots” the process can be cut down to just five minutes.
Today’s warfighter now has an added edge by using the DAFBOT technology so focus can be on mission critical elements and operational imperatives that keep the United States steps ahead of our adversaries during this great power competition.
