BUCKLEY SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. – Chief of Space Operations Gen. John “Jay” W. Raymond, and Chief Master Sgt. of the Space Force Roger Towberman, conducted an all-call with Airmen and Guardians, during a visit to Buckley Space Force Base, Colo., Oct. 12, 2022.
Raymond spoke about the establishment of the Space Force and all the great work being accomplished by the Airmen and Guardians at Buckley, to support the vision and mission of the USSF. After their remarks, Gen. Raymond and Chief Towberman, opened the floor for questions, where Airmen and Guardians had the opportunity to ask about the new force and the direction it was going.
“The first thing and the most important thing, if you’re going to become an independent service, you have to develop your own people,” Raymond said. “In the Space Force, you have to have the ability to recruit, assess, train, develop, promote, retain, pay, and include all those things it takes to become an independent service.”
Raymond recognized outstanding performers and coined nine individuals from the installation for their vital roles in safeguarding the health and well-being of more than 148,400 joint total force, coalition personnel, retirees, dependents, and their families.
“We could not do our jobs without you,” Raymond said. “You are a very meaningful part of this team and it’s been the absolute highlight of my 38 years to have served alongside you over the last couple of years as we’ve built this new service.”
