All Smiles: 378th EMDS dental clinic focuses on readiness through dental care
A two-man team is responsible for delivering critical care to thousands, ensuring mission readiness when it matters most.
U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Douglas Grabowski, 378th Expeditionary Medical Squadron dental services chief, and Staff Sgt. Miguel Guajardo, 378th EMDS dental clinic non-commissioned officer in charge, ensure that over 2,500 service members get the dental care they need, keeping them in the fight through preventative and responsive care.
“Dental emergencies take people out of the fight,” said Grabowski. “Our goal is to make sure teeth and oral emergencies do not interfere with the mission of the 378 AEW.”
Grabowski and Guajardo turn that goal into action every day by prioritizing excellence in customer service. The team handles all dental emergencies, remaining on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
“The biggest thing that motivates me is I don’t like seeing people in pain,” said Guajardo. “If I can provide a good cleaning and give you the educational tools to do good home care, I can help prevent you from being in pain. ”
