U.S. Navy landing craft, air cushion (LCAC) pilots approach the well deck of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) during an LCAC swap with the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, part of Iron Fist 24, off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, Mar. 10, 2024. The opportunity for the JMSDF and ships of the America Amphibious Readiness Group to train our combined maritime warfighting capabilities in an increased capacity with Exercise Iron Fist sharpens our collective sword and contributes to peace and stability within the region. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force, and the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force.
