A KC-135 Stratotanker from the 185th Air Refueling Wing, Iowa Air National Guard, taxis on the tarmac after transporting the remains of Staff Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar and Staff Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard from Dover Air Force Base to Des Moines International Airport, Dec. 24, 2025, as part of an honorable transfer ceremony. Torres-Tovar and Howard, assigned to 1st Squadron, 113th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Iowa Army National Guard, were killed Dec. 13, 2025, while conducting counterterrorism operations in Syria.
