U.S Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit provide security for the forward arming and refueling point during Iron Fist 23 at Hijudai, Japan, Feb. 17, 2023. A FARP is a point of operations to refuel and rearm aircraft outside of a forward operating base. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
