Collin Branch, a joint fire support specialist assigned to Charlie “Wild Card” Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, finishes as the first American, with a time of 3 hours and 45 minutes during the Norwegian Foot March hosted in Giełczyn, Poland, Sept. 22, 2024.(Did he win?) Participants must complete 18.9 miles in 4.5 hours carrying a 25 pound rucksack designed to test mental and physical strength of soldiers, all while building morale, esprit de corps, and multinational alliances. The 1st Cavalry Division’s mission is to engage in multinational training and exercises across the continent, strengthening interoperability with NATO allies and regional security partners, which provides competent and ready forces to V Corps, America’s forward-deployed corps in Europe.
