DENSO East Tennessee Locations Recognized as Veteran Ready Businesses
Tennessee Department of Veterans Services honors supplier’s Athens and Maryville sites for efforts to hire and retain service members, veterans and their families
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Feb. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — DENSO, a leading mobility supplier, announced today the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services (TDVS) has welcomed its Athens and Maryville locations into the Tennessee Veteran Ready Business Recognition Program (VRBP).
The DENSO locations have earned the honor for going above and beyond in efforts to recruit, hire and retain military service members, veterans and their families (SMVF). By joining the program, participants can access educational tools and resources that help them continue to foster work environments where the SMVF community can thrive.
“Every day our team helps employers take their recruitment and support of veterans to the next level,” said Stephen Bell, Director of State Operations, TDVS. “But this work is only possible when job creators like DENSO share that commitment. We appreciate all that the DENSO teams in Athens and Maryville have done, and continue to do, to help veterans find success and grow their careers.”
The Athens and Maryville facilities continuously strive to strengthen systems of support and recognition for team members who serve or who have served previously. These initiatives include creating opportunities for veterans to connect and collaborate at work, supporting veteran-related causes in the community and participating in job fairs for individuals with service backgrounds. Such activities helped Athens earn a Silver Level recognition and Maryville a Bronze Level recognition.
“At DENSO we’re focused on helping all our team members pursue their passions and grow their skills so everyone can support our mission of contributing to a better world,” said Dave Grimmer, president of the Athens facility and leader of North America South Sub-Region Manufacturing, which includes the Athens and Maryville sites. “In this work, we’ve found that service members and veterans often have the drive and talent to excel in our industry. We’ll continue to seek ways to help them grow with DENSO and in our communities.”
DENSO’s commitment to being a great place to work for veterans extends across North America, with service member-oriented groups and programs available at several locations. DENSO’s thermal manufacturing facility in Battle Creek, Michigan, is among these sites. In 2019, the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency named it a Veteran-Friendly Employer and, in 2021, the location joined the U.S. Army’s Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) Program, designed to help service members connect with potential employers after their Army careers.
