Daegu Commissary expands hours of operation | Article
CAMP WALKER, Republic of Korea — Early bird shoppers at Camp Walker now have more weekday options; the Daegu Commissary has expanded hours of service on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. This is two hours earlier than previous hours of operation.
“We pride ourselves on having the best customer service and that includes all of the managers and employees,” said Jessica Crowl, Assistant Commissary Officer. “The new hours help us make things more convenient for the community.”
This expansion of shopping hours comes just months after DeCA launched its new Click2Go service to worldwide locations, including South Korea. Click2Go enables eligible shoppers to select their grocery items online and set up a time to pick them up curbside in front of the commissary.
“The Click2Go service has been well-received by our community. Many of them utilize it and enjoy the convenience it provides, and we have received numerous positive comments regarding it,” said Crowl.
The change in hours is a direct result of a recent customer satisfaction survey conducted by the USAG Daegu Internal Review Office, which regularly monitors community feedback for continuous improvement. Results showed a demand for earlier hours.
The Daegu Commissary is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays and is closed on Monday.
The Defense Commissary Agency operates a worldwide chain of commissaries providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families in a safe and secure shopping environment. Authorized patrons purchase items that are variably priced plus a 5-percent surcharge, which covers the costs of building new commissaries and modernizing existing ones.
Shoppers save thousands of dollars annually on their purchases compared to commercial prices when shopping regularly at a commissary. A core military family support element, and a valued part of military pay and benefits, commissaries contribute to family readiness, enhance the quality of life for America’s military and their families, and help recruit and retain the best and brightest men and women to serve their country.
USAG Daegu is committed to being an Assignment of Choice and making the installations Great Places to Live and Work by providing excellent quality of life support and programs for military communities.
